What success looks like in this role:

Job Profile Summary

The Executive Architect will engage in strategic planning, integrated project planning and management, technical sales support, and implementation consultation across the Enterprise Computing Solutions Business Unit.

Emphasis for this role is on growth of solutions revenue through expansion of the collection of existing and to-be-determined industry solutions through scalable, modern solution and platform architectures.

This role will:

Lead the technical strategy, direction and design of replicable services and solutions into targeted high-growth markets for new and existing clients.

Lead multi-engineering-discipline teams on the standardized and scalable architectures that enable market expansion through client engagements.

Demonstrate experience as a leader in defining architectural solutions using techniques, methods, and tools for large, complex, mission critical projects.

Work across Unisys and with partners to utilize appropriate best practices and capabilities and embed them into solutions.

Provide readouts on solutions ecosystem roadmaps to Unisys senior leadership team.

Interface at Unisys and client senior management levels.

PRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITES - Please briefly describe the five to six most critical responsibilities of the position.

Key Responsibilities

Creates, maintains, and evolves Unisys Enterprise Computing solutions architectures, encompassing current state, desired future state, and roadmap to attain deliverables

Creates standardized approaches for communicating, evaluating, and documenting technical capabilities

Provides ecosystem-based recommendations for making best use of technical assets and capabilities within and across target industries/solutions

Makes build versus buy, off-the-shelf product or Unisys Solution Portfolio recommendations and advises on project or program methodology, subcontractors, architectural frameworks, tools, and staffing

Leads Unisys Area of Strength portfolio strategy presentations to clients including features, implementation approach, technical requirements, impacts, and benefits

Assumes a leadership position and contributes to the ECS solutions strategy

Provides technical oversight and ensures alignment with standards tools, portfolio Work Breakdown Structures, statements of work and industry standard estimating techniques

Defines or manages the definition of the opportunity technical and/or business architecture including performing Architectural Trade-off Analysis Methods (ATAM)

Has responsibility for identifying technical and implementation risks and risk mitigation / avoidance strategies and plays a primary role in the Risk Information Management Summary (RIMS) preparation

Provides thought leadership on architectural designs, architectural modeling, methods, COTS integration, asset management / reuse and common architectural frameworks.

Adheres to and promotes appropriate Unisys processes, architectural artifact requirements and architectural best practices

Maintains knowledge of technologies, industry trends, standards and design techniques

Additional Responsibilities

Aids in development or refinement of solution designs based on Unisys portfolio offerings

Interfaces with clients on issues related to the design, implementation, testing and cutover of the solution

Reviews and approves at the highest level solution designs, implementation approaches, technologies, partners / subcontractors, methods, tools, estimates and project staff assignments

Provides architectural guidance for the largest, most complex projects during the design and implementation phases.

Provides project oversight and acts as a subject matter expert resource to clients on Portfolio Solution processes, required products, product configuration, solution integration, implementation methodologies, resource requirements, implementation timelines supported by industry domain experience.

Provides intervention in client remediation and architectural stabilization

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the broad spectrum of technology areas including trends, standards, products, and techniques and uses this information to implement organizational strategy

May develop Technical Evaluation Deal Review reports as required by the Deal Review Board (DRB)

Participates and supports architect mentoring

Presents / publishes technology, architecture or application solution-based papers to major conferences and publications.

Shares senior practitioner experience with peers by hosting courses and/or community events as well as by contributing to the Unisys collaboration environment

People Management

Assigns and reviews tasks, mentors junior architects and other staff, manages performance feedback, and creates development plans consistent with performing the role of project or program manager

Key Qualifications

Master’s Degree, Ph. D. or equivalent experience and a minimum of 20 years of relevant IT implementation experience

Must have experience in Enterprise Architecture definition for large enterprises, organizations and/or government agencies

Experience leading and being part of a global team

Has a broad understanding of diverse supporting technologies such as Public and Private cloud architectures, micro-services and container-based development, DevOps and CICD methods, platform instantiation and delivery, integration and service layer design, Server Operating Systems, Database / Information Management, Networks, Application and Data Security, Desktop Technologies, Virtualization, Infrastructure Monitoring, Mobility Solutions, Application Platforms, Application / System Integration, Application Development, Enterprise Content Management and Social Computing

Must have experience leading multi-engineering discipline proposal, implementation, and remediation teams for large enterprise client engagements with project values exceeding $10M USD

Must have system engineering experience including large project requirements management, project management, cost / effort estimation, build versus buy analysis, asset management / reuse, configuration management, subcontractor management and complex solution design / architecture

Must have experience having the role of approval authority for large new business or delivery engagements

Must have experience in shaping large and complex deals, having participated in activities such as solution design, resourcing, planning, proposal preparation, architectural tradeoffs, winning theme development, and presentation of solution to the client

Experience in strategic planning, business modeling, and process simulation

Must have knowledge of IT Outsourcing and / or Business Process Outsourcing engagements and associated standards (e.g. ITIL, ISO, etc.)

Highly knowledgeable on applicable industry standards and frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL, ISO standards, FEAF, etc.

Excellent communications skills with the ability to interface with all levels of internal and client project teams with the ability to articulate Unisys portfolio and technology strategy

Demonstrated thought leadership through original internally or externally published material, patents, or innovations
